About Dr. Aaron Covey

Dr. Covey graduated from Yale Medical School as class president for four years. He then completed his 5-year Orthopaedic Surgery residency within  Yale orthopedics. Following this, he went on to a specialized year of additional training as a fellow at The Columbia Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine Service in New York City. There, he participated in the care of elite high school, college and professional athletics including the New York Yankees.

Dr. Covey is currently the Head Team Physician for Choate-Rosemary Hall and was the lead Team Physician for the University of New Haven for 10 years. He has serves as consulting physician for Southern Connecticut State University athletics in addition to other local high schools.

Dr. Covey believes in a patient-centered approach to medicine. During a consultation, patients can expect a thorough examination to be performed  followed by a detailed discussion the ailment. Dr. Covey’s will provide his impression of the condition and treatment options catered towards the patients’ goals and expectations. Dr. Covey often starts out offering non-invasive methods such as medication, focused physical therapy, activity modification or injections. As a highly trained surgeon, he can offer the latest surgical techniques when definitive intervention is necessary.

Dr. Covey has given several seminars on the treatment of complex musculoskeletal conditions involving the knee and shoulder. He regularly attends specialty meetings to stay up to date on the latest techniques and advances including minimally invasive procedures about the shoulder, elbow and knee. His practice is focused on athletic injuries to the young and old, joint replacement and fracture care.

When Dr. Covey is not in the office, operating room or athletic training room, you can find him with his wife and four children traveling, skiing, playing tennis, rock climbing or participating in other outdoor adventures!
